Anello Tecnico: cross-country skiing in Livigno!
Opening in November!
The Technical Cross-Country Ski Ring in Livigno is an elite training facility located in the alpine valley of Livigno. This loop is known to be one of the first in Europe to open for the season, thanks to the use of snow stored during the previous winter, allowing training as early as the end of October.
Snow destined for the trail is stored during the winter in Livigno's central plain, protected by insulating layers. Initially covered with sawdust sheets to keep out the cold, it is then covered with a geotextile sheet to reflect the sun's rays. This method, known as “snowfarm,” allows snow to be preserved during the summer and reused for the start of the season.
The slope, with a variable length of up to 5 km, is purpose-built to provide optimal conditions for both classic and skating styles and runs on a flat, moderately undulating course with slight ascents and descents, making it ideal for athletic training. Thanks to its altitude of about 1,800 meters above sea level, Livigno offers perfect conditions for altitude training, improving athletes' physical endurance.
An opportunity not to be missed to start the ski season early!
